Founded on Care

Oticon’s People First philosophy is more than a mission statement. It is a way of thinking and doing business that stems from our historical roots and has propelled the company forward into its 21st century leadership role. Hans Demant founded what would become Oticon driven by his desire to help his wife Camilla who suffered from a hearing loss. Hans Demant learned of a device that was worn by the Queen of England during her Coronation. He searched out this electrical hearing aid for his wife, and seeing the dramatic change in her and their personal life, Hans and Camilla Demant began a new business venture to help more people just like her.
