Pediatric measurements

Children's ear canals are small, and this affects audiometry and prescription of gain. The smaller size causes greater sound pressure across all the frequencies, plus different resonance peaks. The Genie fitting software accounts for these differences in a number of ways: Audiometry methods
The acoustics of standard measurement couplers need to be modified for small ear canal sizes. Select an audiometric method in Genie 6.0 and the data will be corrected accordingly. Real Ear to Coupler Differences (RECD) RECD compensation is vital for an accurate and safe fit. Genie automatically prescribes RECD changes according to selected age. Individual values can be entered in the RECD screen. Click on the image below to enlarge it.
