"My wife and I like to fly and build experimental planes. But over the last couple of years, my wife has had to do all the talking on the radio as I could no longer understand the tower or flight service. In the last year I've had a real hard time talking to my wife in the plane, even though we use very good, noise canceling headsets. The daily challenges
"Until I was fitted with Epoq, I could only converse at close range in a quite environment. I quit going to concerts, singing in the Barbershop Chorus, and wasn't even able to watch movies at home on the TV. I had no ability to speak with my wife until I put my hearing instruments in, and then I had to be very close and facing her to have any comprehension at all. I was considering a coclear implant if these new instruments didn't help."

I no longer leave the room every time there are more than three or four people talking. Before I couldn't tolerate the noise and would head back to my office. Now with the whole family gathered, I can stay and carry on a conversation. It has made a fantastic difference in my life. Before I didn't want to go out anywhere. I avoided restaurants or social gatherings. Now I feel like I'm stepping back in time 10 to 15 years - without the problems I've experienced the past few years.

Roger's new experiences with Epoq
"My hearing is now about where it was about 10 years ago. If I'm in a room with a bunch of people, all talking, and with the TV on, I can still understand them; the noise doesn't bother me and I can locate where sounds are coming from. I seem to need a new truck, as mine has developed a lot of strange noises that it didn't have last week."
