Phone / Push Button Settings

Epoq offers a variety of phone configurations to better suit your client’s needs.  This guide is designed to help you better understand your options so that you can provide the easiest option for the patient.

Beginning with “Auto”

The “Auto” feature in EPOQ is not a program and therefore does not take up a memory in the hearing aids.  It is ACTIVATED in the END FITTING screen.

Auto Phone (M) is acoustic and is based on program one.  It is the best choice for the new hearing aid client.

Auto (T) requires a T-coil.  T-coil set up is explained below.

Auto (M) and/or Auto (T) is available on the RITE and MINI BTE models as well as the half shell and low profile custom models.

Auto Phone (T) is not available in canal aids.

Phone Programs

Understanding the phone options in EPOQ XW and W
EPOQ XW and W offer a variety of phone options. This guide is designed to help you decide what the patient needs and how to set up appropriate options in the hearing aids.

What phone options are available?  Where do I set them up in Genie 2007.1?
There are four basic phone options that can be selected in the Program Manager. They are presented in the order in which they appear. When selected, these options will occupy a program in the hearing instrument.

Telecoil:  Basic telecoil

  • Same gain as settings in program one no boost
  • Used for looped environments
  • When selected it occupies a program in both the right and left ear
  • Not available in CIC, MIC, Mini Canal, and Canal

MT: Microphone plus telecoil.
Used for assistive listening device set ups

Phone (T):
Telecoil with a 6 dB boost.  This is the recommended telecoil option for phone use.

  • Good for phones that emit a magnetic field
  • Can only be selected for one ear
  • Computed off of program one and can be adjusted in program manager
  • 6 dB decrease in volume on the opposite ear which can be deactivated
  • Not available in cic, mic, mini canal and canal
  • The push button option must be ordered to activate the coil

Phone (M):
Acoustic phone program, increase in mid frequency range

  • Computed off of program one and can be adjusted in program manager
  • Highs rolled off due to limited bandwidth in Phone signals
  • Not available in CIC and Mini Canal

Push Button Options

Understanding Push Button Options in EPOQ
One of the benefits of ear to ear connectivity along with the flexibility of Genie 2007.1 is customization.  Together you and your patient can tailor programs specifically for individual needs.

Where is this done in Genie 2007.1?

  • Select End fitting tab
  • Select Button Settings
  • Binaural Synchronization determines if the switch control is binaural
  • Volume control can be activated or deactivated
  • Mute function can be activated or deactivated

How does the push button selection affect custom product selection?

  • The push button is now an option on the order form.  It must be selected because it not standard.
  • You can now select one or two push buttons on a binaural fit depending upon the needs of the patient.

When ordering a Phone (T) remember to order a push button.
