Open Ear Acoustics

If the ear canal is occluded with an unvented earmold, low frequency sounds can increase by up to 30 dB. Hearing aid users often complain about the sound of their own voice and the discomfort they experience when chewing. Theoptimum way to remove these side effects is by allowing low frequency sounds to escape via the ear canal. This is achieved through increasing the vent size - i.e. OpenEar Acoustics.

Requirements for OpenEar Acoustics
OpenEar Acoustics demands three things: A fast digital signal processing time, dynamic feedback cancellation and low frequency gain compensation. Syncro offers all three.

Fast signal processing
The time delay between the processed and direct sound must be minimal in order to avoid unpleasant sensations such as echo or distortion. In Syncro it is less than 10ms.

Dynamic Feedback Cancellation
Rather than reducing gain to eliminate feedback, Syncro uses phase cancellation. The Dynamic Feedback Cancellation system eliminates whistling without increasing the processing time or distorting the speech signal.

Low frequency gain compensation
Syncro's amplification strategy compensates for the loss of low frequency energy through the vent, thereby preventing the instrument from sounding excessively tinny due to the increased high frequency emphasis.
